I've already ranted about the seeming incongruity of the monk class in another article, but don't be misled. I love the monk class really. With powers like they have, they can be truly deadly. They don't even need to carry around weapons, and if you're a stingy bugger like me that can be a positive godsend! Fewer possessions means fewer goods for the rest of the thieving bastards in the party to nick. Better yet, with their speed, close-combat ability and saving throws, they're the ultimate mage-killers! Booargh!
But once again the problem of naming them springs to mind. I shan't hesitate to tell you that I am woefully ignorant of oriental martial arts culture, whether it's the temples where the shaolin monks study, the code of bushido by which the samurai abide or, well, anything.
